Economic authorities inquiry against Intel has been finished

11:09 pm in News by Geri

This time, Intel should not pay money, but must do a few action. In the past, Intel was penalised with huge amount of money, because they offered reduced prices for corporations who are banned AMD’s CPU’s from the market. Now Intel must modify some contracts wich will favor to its rivals.

In the recent, Intel has denied some rights from Nvidia and other corporations to create own GPU based on the Atom architecture. Now Intel must manufacture PCI-E based products too in these devices for 6 years. The agreement does not contain the current Nvidia vs Intel lawsuits about Quick Path Interconnect technologies. Intel claims that Nvidia using these patents without correct license.

Intel also forced to extend license treaties with VIA, and authorities has been deleted every limitation from the contracts, which was limited VIA in any activities, including merging with other companies.
Intel also must warn the programmers in the Intel’s C++ Compiler’s read-me, because the compiler can only use the Intel CPU’s properly.

The judgment still not answers a lot of questions. Who waited the x86 technology’s liberation, shall be sad now, because the measures seems only temporally and semblance.

iPhone 4 announced – Looking good…

10:51 pm in News by bOingball

Well this afternoon the iPhone 4 was announced and I can say I’m impressed with the look and the new features.

The iMovie HD software looks great and I can imagine when I get one (I’m hoping on launch day) I can use this for holiday vids and just random trip vids.

The Video Calling whilst wows America is old hat here in the UK though, Video calling has been out for ages and still no one uses it (and even less so now since everyone moved to an iPhone and Blackberry)

Also I wonder what iOS4 will bring to the older iPhone 3G(s).

It looks like O2 have this ready for launch in the UK so heres hoping by the end of this month I’ll be updating and twitting from the new phone.

Anyway well done Steve Jobs for launching the new phone – Congrats Apple.
